Competition winners: (The year of the Hotshot!)

  • C grade – Hotshots (Runners-up Warriors)
    • A competition which changed its format through the season, we hope you all enjoyed it!
    • Thankyou to Vince Northwood, Richard Brown, Emily Kabayama, Mark Williams
  • B Grade – Hotshots (Runners-up Barracudas)
    • It looked like the winners were decided quite early in the season, but in the last 2 weeks everything changed. On finals day, the “underdogs” got up in both games!
    • Thankyou to Lindsay Brown, Hamish Stein, Dan Pitts, Danielle Fisher, Jane Casement, Charlie Williams
  • A Grade – Hotshots (Runners-up Primemovers)
    • Hotshots have been working towards this for years, and showed strong form throughout.
    • Thankyou to Cathy Churchill, Roxy Gwynn-Kabayama, Mark Williams, Ian McLeod
  • Seniors – Hotshots (Runners-up Warriors)
    • A drawn final that went through 2 lots of extra time, then to a shootout, with the underdogs getting up in the last moments!

Senior Awards:

  • 50 games – Sean O’Rourke, Juliet O’Rourke, Peter Freeman, Shaun Simon, Danielle Fisher, Kate Collins
  • 100 Games – Jamie Astill, Geoff Churchill
  • Best and Fairest: (points awarded by umpires each week)
    • Barracudas: Grace Cathcart
    • Hotshots: Hamish Stein
    • Primemovers: Luke Van Esch
    • Warriors: Charlie Astley
    • Overall B&F winner: Hamish Stein
  • Hunter Representative players were awarded with a tag for their plaque – a long list of juniors and seniors – over a third of our Club players also played in a Rep team, mostly for Hunter but some for Newcastle – a pretty amazing statistic for such a small Club!!

  • BIG thankyou to Cathy Owen, our new Canteen Manager
  • BIG thankyou to Sean O’Rourke for looking after our goalie gear, and for coaching and encouraging our goalies of all ages.

Major Awards:

  • Metta Henderson Award for Contribution to Junior Hockey (as voted by Exec and Junior coaches)
    • Mark Williams
      • Mark has helped out across all of our Junior Competitions, with organising, umpiring and coaching, and also with our Maitland Carnival teams, and is a great encourager of our players moving up to Representative level.
  • Jeff Young Shield for Clubperson of the Year (as voted by Exec, Comp organisers, Senior captains)
    • Cathy Churchill and Juliet O’Rourke
      • In addition to their huge contribution to the day-to-day running of our Club, Cathy and Juliet have also been running weekly coaching clinics in a number of our local Primary Schools, bringing Hockey to a much wider audience.
